CASE STUDY
Servers Architecture Actualization for SMS Service Provider
Main Goal
The primary objective was to reconstruct and update the servers’ architecture for a client operating as an SMS service provider. The scope of activities encompassed optimal solution planning, supervision of device installation, configuration, and the migration of virtual machines, followed by ongoing post-implementation support.
The Course of the Project
After completing the analysis of the existing environment and documenting the findings, we proposed several variants of the new architecture and selected the optimal one. It was crucial to accurately determine the time required for project realization.
The project unfolded with a division of duties between SysA engineers and the client’s project group. The work progressed in close collaboration or overlapped, with the following scope:
- Updating and configuring servers firmware.
- Installation and configuration of the virtualization system in the latest – stable version.
- Reconfiguration of existing network infrastructure.
- Migration of virtual machines to a new environment.
- Installation, update and configuration of storage arrays.
- Configuration of the environment to ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
Effect
The upgrade of the server infrastructure and the changes have significantly increased the performance of the systems, while ensuring their redundancy. By enhancing the uplink capacity to 40 Gbit/s in the network backbone, leveraging Dell switches, we significantly contributed to the development of services provided at the highest level of availability.
