CASE STUDY
Reorganization of Company Infrastructure: Overcoming Operational Challenges
Primary Challenges to Continuity
The client, a company with offices, warehouses, and factories in Poland and Eastern Europe, sought assistance to secure organizational continuity and mitigate various risks:
- Local Server Room Reliability: High failure rates in the local server room, which served as the access point for all departments to the organization’s system resources.
- Availability and Qualifications of IT Employees: Concerns about the availability and qualifications of internal IT personnel.
- Security of Data, Systems, and Applications: A need to enhance the overall security of data, systems, and applications within the organization.
- Outdated Technological Infrastructure: The necessity of urgently upgrading the outdated technological infrastructure, tailored to the customer’s financial capabilities.
- Access Security for Remote Locations: Ensuring secure access to systems and data from outside the company’s headquarters, including branches, factories, and remote employees.
Project Implementation
Following an IT audit at the company’s headquarters, where the critical server resources were located, we compiled a report detailing the existing situation. Given the organization’s heavy dependence on a single server room, we outlined potential dangers and associated costs in case of server room failure or inaccessibility.
Concurrently, we conducted a security audit of the server infrastructure, assessing the current competencies of the IT department employees and their impact on the company’s future development. After understanding the business processes, we proposed a migration timeline for key business applications to the SysAdvisors Data Center.
Upon acceptance, we initiated server virtualization and migration to the target environment. Simultaneously, we established Site-to-Site (S2S) VPNs for all departments and configured VPN connections for remote users, significantly enhancing infrastructure security.
The subsequent step involved the implementation of Active Directory, aimed at managing user access to hardware and system resources within the organization. Additionally, we proposed and implemented a comprehensive solution for securing data across network resources, workstations, and user emails.
Achievements
By outsourcing IT operations to SysAdvisors, the client received full-service and support from our Senior DevOps, Networks, and HelpDesk Team. This approach not only provided extensive IT competencies but also reduced the need for additional training, contributing to increased flexibility in budget planning and long-term development activities for the entire capital group.
The collaboration with SysAdvisors resulted in a significant reduction in the high costs associated with maintaining and restoring server environments. It effectively eliminated issues with IT systems and infrastructure, addressing vulnerabilities such as power outages in the local server room, failures of the local ISP operator, and risks of flooding or fire in the server room.
